This Holiday Mule is my favorite holiday drink, so far. If Vodka Cranberry and Moscow Mule get married, this would be their baby. It has vodka, of course, my fav liquor! and I like Grey Goose or Ketel One but you can use whatever brand you like, ginger beer, homemade cranberry simple syrup, cranberry juice, fresh lime juice and garnished with some cranberries and a sprig of fresh rosemary. It’s so good and refreshing. I have to warn you… it goes down easy, if you know what I mean. ha ha And for those of you who are reading this that are not old enough to drink yet, please share it with your parents and move on to another recipe. But don’t forget to come back when you are older. LOL
I love serving this in a copper mug , but these can be served in a regular glass, too. The sweet-tart from cranberry syrup, cranberry juice, fresh lime juice, spicy ginger beer and fragrant rosemary combine perfectly for a drink that’s so festive and fun. I love to serve this at holiday parties and people (including myself) are usually impressed. I think it has something to do the with rosemary sprig and the ruby red cranberries that make it look fancy.
A few years ago all these Holiday Mule recipes popped up all over my Pinterest, so I started making it and after a few adjustments, I found the best way that’s the most simple. Life is already complicated, your holiday drinks don’t have to be.
Let’s cook some food… I mean let’s make some cocktails!
Start with simple cranberry syrup and you can do this a few days in advance.
Add 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water and 3 cups of fresh cranberries into a saucepan over medium heat. It will make about 1 ½ cups simple syrup and you’ll get 3 cups of cooked cranberries. Stir occasionally. By the time the edges start to simmer, the liquid should be completely clear, not cloudy. Remove from the heat when the cranberries are cooked, you can tell when their skin starts cracking.
Separate the cranberries and syrup into different containers. Let it cool and store the syrup and cranberries in the fridge until party time.
To make the cocktail, pour vodka, cranberry simple syrup and ginger beer over ice and top with cranberry juice and a squeeze of fresh lime. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and 5-6 cranberries.
That’s it! Cheers! I hope you try and like this Holiday Mule as much as I do. The recipe card is below.
