Dear iced tea lovers out there. I’m one of you and I always buy flavored tea from the store. But hey, what if you can make your own? It’s super simple, so fresh, healthy, not overly sweet and you know exactly what’s in it. What a perfect refreshing summer drink!
Here’s how I make it.
Start with simple syrup. To make simple syrup, boil 1 part of sugar and 1 part of water in a small sauce pan (small pot). I used 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Once it comes to a boil, and sugar completely dissolves, turn off the heat. Set aside.
Bring 3 quarts (12 cups) of water to a boil. Turn off the heat, add 5 green tea bags into the pot and let them sit for 5 minutes. I tied them together so I can get them out easily (except one, I lost the “tail” ha ha). After 5 minutes, discard the tea bags and let it cool.
Peel and cut 4 fresh peaches into big chunks. Add them into a food processor or a blender.
Blend until you no longer see the chunks.
Pour puree through a strainer. Use a spoon to push it through.
Add simple syrup into the tea.
Followed by strained peach puree.
Stir to combine.
Refrigerate and chill for at least 1 hour. Serve over ice and garnish with additional peach slices and blackberries.
It is so refreshing and not overly sweet. I made a big pitcher and it will last for 4-5 days in the fridge (or less because I can’t stop drinking it). You can also use other fruit such as raspberries, mangoes or blueberries, whatever you like. The possibility is endless here. :-). And here are the links to Blueberry Tea and Raspberry Tea
I hope you give Peach Tea and Raspberry Tea a try and let me know how it goes and if you use other kind of fruit, I’d love to hear about it. The comment box is below the recipe card. Cheers to summer!
