What would be more appropriate than the red, white and blue Puff Pastry Berries Nutella and Cream for dessert on 4th of July, Memorial Day or any day actually. It’s relatively easy to make and let’s face it, they look fancy. You wouldn’t believe how easy it is.
I’ve said it many many times, I’m not a baker BUT I love dessert so any chance that I get to make simple, beautiful and delish dessert, I’m always up for it. These flaky puff pastry shells are filled with hazelnut spread, the famous Nutella (seriously, if all the spreads are alive, Nutella would be the queen of all!), fresh homemade whipped cream, top with fresh berries and the lightly dusted powder sugar which is totally optional but hey go for it, if you want to impress. The Puff Pastry Berries Nutella and Cream hit my soft spot and the world stopped moving for a couple seconds while I took the first couple bites. Good food and dessert don’t have to be complicated. Some days, I feel like a super woman, want to do it all and make everything from scratch but nope, not today. I just wanted to eat some wings, have some good dessert and take a nap, then get ready for a long relaxing day.
I have a super shortcut. Not only did I used frozen puff pastry, I used the kind that’s already cut into shells. If you can’t find them, you can use the frozen puff pastry sheets, but you will have to use a large cookie cutter to cut them before baking.
Here are a few other desserts with berries and creamy stuff that I posted on letscooksomefood. They’re pretty simple, beautiful and equally delish.
Panna Cotta with Fresh Berries
Let’s make some dessert!
Add cream, sugar and vanilla extract into a bowl.
Whip until stiffed peaks. You can use an electric mixer, handheld mixer or by hands, which will take some muscles of course. Cover and put in the fridge.
Bake the puff pastry shells according to the package instructions. Mine took 18 minutes.
Let them cool down.
Gently remove the middle round piece from the middle. Save them or if you have a husband who’s like a little kid, he will come over and snatch them all before you have a chance to tell him that he can spread Nutella on and eat them.
Fill the bottom with some Nutella, about a tablespoon.
Pipe or spoon the whipped cream into the pastry shells.
Place a few mixed fresh berries on top.
Serve immediately or refrigerate before you are ready to eat them. Dust the top with some powder sugar before serving (optional).
