Baking can’t get easier than this. This Basic Sugar Cookies is so simple and such a perfect recipe. The best part, other than eating them, is your house will smell heavenly. They are so great with a cup of tea, coffee or milk. The dough is also good for freezing, so if don’t feel like making 60 cookies all at once, you can put it in the fridge or freezer until you’re ready to make them again.
I also have other advanced cookie recipes, if you wanna try. Here are the links.

Like a baby, before you can run, you’ll have to learn how to walk. This Basic Sugar Cookies recipe is just that, the walking version of baking. But I promise, it is the best Basic Sugar Cookies recipe!
Speaking of baby steps, I have my childhood memory to share. when my sister and I were young and she just started trying to walk by herself. Me, “the supportive big sister”, always tried to push her. Isn’t that horrible? However, my sister got smarter or shall I say she developed her ‘survival instincts’. She sat down once she saw me coming, so I couldn’t push her. I’m so sorry, Sis. I love you so much, even though I tried to ruin your development process. I promise, if you come to visit me, I will make you a bunch of these Basic Sugar Cookies. FYI: My sister and her beautiful family currently live in Dubai. Hopefully, we get to see them soon. 🙂
Let’s cook some food! Actually, let bake some cookies!
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
In a large bowl or electric mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
Mix until combined.
Roll the dough into balls. I like to use water melon baller to get them the same size or you can use a small ice cream scooper.
If the dough is too soft, you can put it in the fridge for a few minutes until it gets firmer.
Place them onto ungreased cookie sheets. Leave some space between them as they will expand.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes until golden.
Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on a wire rack.
